Another year, another Everything Electric event at the Sydney Showground in Sydney Olympic Park. This year’s 6 month delayed three-day event, with the first day being a trade day for industry and the following two days open to the public. The event featured a range of talks, panels, and lots of exhibitions on electric vehicles solar power, batteries, and other charging infrastructure vendors.
This year’s presenting team: Dan Caesar, Elliot Richards, and Aussies Sarah Aubrey and Tom Gan. No big guns Robert and Jack this year, the big crowd pleasers on previous years. They will be missed.
A big Chinese presence of EV brands and, except Polestar, no European brands this year. The Chinese brands included BYD, MG/IM, Geely, Zeekr, GAC (and sub-brands), GWM, Omoda/Jaecoo. Besides Polestar, Hyundai/Genesis, Subaru and Cadilac were also present. Most provided test drive options, driving around the block in Sydney Olympic Park.
Deepal and Leapmotor, (and XPeng?) were also present but rather on the sidelines without big stands, as opposed to last year’s event. No BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Peugeot this year (present 18 months ago).
Two electric scooter brands (think Vespa moped models) were present, Fonz and Roll’n, and one motorcycle brand, FTN Motion with these small Streetdog café racer bikes (available for test rides!), using a hub motor (no belt!).
Did a test drive of the IM 5, which was a very comfortable and quiet ride, but not a fan of Chinese brands’ interiors. And the constant nagging was annoying.
